About This Event

Junior Brother, the stage name of Irish singer-songwriter Ronan Kealy, will perform at The Voodoo Rooms in Edinburgh on 6 November 2026. Known for his alternative-folk style, he combines intricate guitar work with vivid lyrics. His music has gained recognition in the contemporary folk scene.

Junior Brother is the moniker of Ronan Kealy, an Irish alternative-folk singer-songwriter originally from County Kerry. Known for his idiosyncratic, "alt-folk" style, he pairs intricate, frantic guitar work and foot-stomping rhythms with surreal, vividly rural lyrics. Since his debut album, Pull the Right Rope (nominated for the Choice Music Prize), he has carved out a unique space in the contemporary folk scene. His follow-up album, The End, further established his reputation for experimental arrangements and a raw, visceral performance style that has seen him support acts like The Proclaimers and Glen Hansard.
