About This Event
This photopolymer workshop at Silvan House Studios explores the intersection of contemporary UV techniques and traditional Chinese folk printmaking. Tickets are priced at £65.
Light-Activated Printmaking: Jiama-Inspired Photopolymer Workshop Explore the intersection of traditional Chinese folk printmaking and contemporary UV-sensitive photopolymer printing techniques. This workshop is inspired by the visual language and storytelling structure of Chinese Jiama woodblock prints. Participants will create their own image and transform it into a photopolymer relief printing plate using UV exposure technology. The final process allows participants to print multiple editions by hand, similar to traditional woodblock printmaking. Unlike photographic processes such as cyanotype, this workshop focuses on relief printmaking, where light is used to create a printable surface rather than producing a photographic image. Through a step-by-step guided process, participants will learn how hand-drawn or designed images can be transferred onto light-sensitive resin plates and printed in multiple copies.
