About This Event

Nesting is a four-hander play performed at Summerhall. The production was researched with MND Scotland, the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association, carers and people diagnosed with MND.

Researched with people diagnosed with MND, their carers, and MND Scotland and Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association, this four-hander follows Francis, a man caged in his home with a devastating diagnosis. An anthropomorphised seagull who dreams of being human offers an escape: it will nest inside Francis’ body, take control, remove the MND and free his pregnant daughter from the burden of his care. But what begins as selfless sacrifice risks becoming violent surrender. Set to an electrifying original score with fast-paced physical theatre and an unsettling script, Nesting is a visceral exploration of what care looks like across generations when a child becomes a carer and a parent becomes a patient.
