This relaxed afternoon workshop gives you the chance to switch off, work with beautiful fabrics and enjoy the simple pleasure of making something by hand. Firstly, you'll build a base layer to create colour, pattern and texture. Then using learn a selection of easy hand-embroidery techniques, you'll embellish the base to create your own small textile project. The Slow-Stitched Needlebook was recently a sell-out workshop at Dovecot Studio & Gallery, and I'm delighted to be bringing the project to Artisan Stitch in a shorter, relaxed afternoon format. Learn the technique and make it your own: The workshop is based around creating a slow-stitched needlebook, using a prepared fabric base that I'll provide. You'll learn how to layer and embellish fabric using simple hand stitches, creating a unique piece of textile work with your own choice of fabrics, colours and stitching. And once you've learned the technique, you'll be able to see how it could be adapted for other small textile projects too. You might use your new skills to create a glasses case, a stitched panel for a notebook, a textile pocket, coin purse or another small project of your own. The possibilities are part of the fun - but for this workshop, I'll provide the prepared base so you can concentrate on learning, stitching and enjoying the process.
