Jer Reid - GIOdynamics & Christine Devaney - Curious Seed host a small group sound & movement improvisation session. Everyone very welcome!

The Meet! is a small group music & dance or sound & movement (whichever you prefer!) improvisation session hosted by Jer Reid of Collective Endeavours and GIOdynamics and Christine Devaney of Curious Seed.

The session is an extension of the format used by GIOdynamics (a night hosted by Jer at The Glad Cafe on behalf of the Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra) and Christine’s evolving improvisation practice with diverse groups.

The format is small group improvisation. In this session, everyone will play in a small group of 4 or 5 people for 10-15 minutes and there will be a longer play for the whole group at the end. Jer and Christine will form the groups on the day. We will also begin the session with a physical and sonic warm up warm up for everyone.

However much experience you have of improvising, you are very welcome to come and take part.

Everyone please wear loose clothes.

We have divided the tickets into dancers and musicians to have a rough balance of particpants. You are, of course, free to be creative however you like in the session but if you can get a ticket for your primary interest that would be great.

There is a PA in The Den for those that need it. Musicians please email Jer:

jerreid@yahoo.com

to chat through your technical requirements.

The ticket price is £0-£15. The collected fee will go towards Jer’s travel, time and a small donation to Curious Seed for the space.

Curious Seed is supporting this event with Christine’s time and also can offer up to 5 travel / access bursaries of up to £40 per person. Please contact producer@curious-seed.co.uk to apply for this.

Any questions feel free to email Jer. Look forward to it!

ACCESSIBILITY: We can provide a ramp at the entrance of the Ocean Point building on request, and all floors can be accessed via lift. However, it does not have evacuation chairs for use on the stairs. Therefore, in the event of a fire emergency where lifts are out of action, anyone who is not able to use stairs may have to wait at a refuge point for emergency services to arrive. The Den is on the 6th floor. Please consider this when deciding to attend.

Location: Ocean Point 1, 1 Ocean Drive, Leith, Edinburgh, EH6 6JH – it is the tall office building opposite Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre. We don’t have access to the main front doors, so on arrival, you must come to the rear door via the car park. There is an ‘Outer Spaces’ sign on the door.
