Formed in Wymeswold, Leicestershire, in 1998, The Wave Pictures are a highly prolific British indie-rock trio consisting of David Tattersall (guitar, vocals), Franic Rozycki (bass), and Jonny Helm (drums). Celebrated for their fiercely independent DIY spirit, witty songwriting, and Tattersall's legendary guitar work, the band has spent nearly three decades building a beloved reputation within the UK alternative scene. Over their extensive career, they have released more than twenty albums, including their acclaimed 2026 release Gained / Lost on the Bella Union label. The trio routinely blends elements of 1960s garage rock, 1970s classic rock, and 1990s American indie, drawing stylistic comparisons to Jonathan Richman and Pavement. Known as dedicated collaborators, they have frequently shared stages and served as the backing band for esteemed artists such as Daniel Johnston, Jeffrey Lewis, and Darren Hayman, whilst gracing major festival stages including Primavera Sound and Green Man.
