About This Event

On March 26th, 2027, at The Queen's Hall in Edinburgh, the dramatic narrative of Bach’s Matthew Passion transports audiences through the tumultuous events of Good Friday, with eight vocalists weaving a complex tapestry of human suffering and divine mercy amid the stark energy of the performance.

Bach’s Matthew Passion was first performed on Good Friday in 1727. Amidst the drama of betrayal, trial, judgment, and crucifixion, there runs a thread of love, both human and divine. Eight singers and two orchestras work together and apart to narrate, comment, and reflect on the last days of Jesus’ life. Join us this Eastertide to celebrate 300 years of this extraordinary work.
