About This Event

Pavel Kolesnikov and Samson Tsoy perform piano arrangements of Stravinsky's 'The Rite of Spring' and Beethoven's 'Symphony No 9' at The Queen's Hall on 25 January 2027. Tickets range from £22.00 to £98.00.

Pavel Kolesnikov and Samson Tsoy, celebrated for their deep musical partnership, have garnered acclaim for their piano duo arrangements of these two orchestral pillars. Their performance of Stravinsky's 'The Rite of Spring' captures the raw, percussive energy of the composer's original 1913 four-hand piano version, stripping the work back to its rhythmic and skeletal essence. Similarly, by tackling Liszt's formidable transcription of Beethoven's 'Symphony No 9', the duo transforms a massive symphonic structure into an intimate yet powerful dialogue, highlighting the structural genius and remarkable modernity of the composition through the clarity of two pianos. Stravinsky The Rite of SpringBeethoven Symphony No 9 This concert is part of the New Town Concerts 2025/26 series which includes the Martinů String Quartet, Quatuor Agate, and the Trio Bohémo.
