The concert is performed live by a chamber ensemble of the Prague-based orchestra, with the young Czech violinist Matteo Hager as soloist. At the heart of the evening are Vivaldi's four violin concertos – Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter – the most popular set of pieces in the whole Baroque repertoire, framed by four more favourites of the string repertoire: Mozart's Eine kleine Nachtmusik, Bach's Air on the G String, Pachelbel's Canon in D and Handel's Water Music. Greyfriars Kirk, at the top of Candlemaker Row in the Old Town, is one of Edinburgh's most historic churches and one of its finest concert spaces, with a clear, generous acoustic that suits Baroque strings perfectly. The orchestra brings the warmth of the Czech string tradition – from Dvořák and Smetana to today – to an evening of the best-loved music ever written for strings. Running time approx. 90 minutes including interval. Tickets from £24 (plus booking fee) at bmaproduction.enigoo.com
