Lyme Regis Lifeboat Week will host the Damsels in Distress event on Lyme Regis Main Beach in Exeter on 18 August 2026, where participants will compete to rescue their partners and win a prize. The event requires participants to rescue their partner and be the first to cross the finish line. The price for this event is £6.13.

This event will require 2 participants, one to row the watercraft (paddleboard or double kayak) to a boat where your partners will be. You will need to rescue your partner from the boat to your watercraft, row back to the beach and carry your partner to the finish line.
Arrive earlier to make sure you are ready for the start.
This year the finish line will be at the Harbour Inn 23 Marine Parade, Lyme Regis DT7 3JF.
This event is sponsored with thanks to the Harbour Inn Lyme Regis. The Harbour Inn will be presenting the winners with a £100 voucher to spend in the Harbour!
Participants are able to hire paddleboards, kyaks and bouancy aids from Lyme Kyak Hire. Thank you to Lyme Kayak Hire for donating the funds raised through this equiptment hire to the RNLI!
Event Rules
1. This event will require 2 participants, one to row the paddleboard or double kayak to a boat where their partners will be. They need to rescue their partners onto their paddleboard or double kayak, row back to the beach and carry their partner to the finish line.
2. All registrations will be made on Eventbrite. If all places are not allocated before, then registration will remain open until 30 minutes before the advertised start of the race.
3. All Participants MUST wear buoyancy aids
4. All participants must be over 18.
5. If you don't have your own paddleboard or double kayak and buoyancy aid then kayaks and buoyancy aids can be hired from Lyme Kayak Hire on the beach. All proceeds from hiring this equiptment will go to the RNLI!
6. Participants must be physically and medically fit.
7. All participants to attend a safety briefing 30 minutes before the start of the race. This will take place outside the Harbour Inn.
