Shumba Tribe is a wellness event taking place from 16 September 2026 at Exwick Community Centre in Exeter. It consists of six weeks of African rhythm and dance sessions priced between £80.00 and £155.00.
6 weeks of African rhythm & dance to strengthen community and lift our spirits
With rhythm as our guide, the earth as our home, and tribe as our place of belonging, Shumba Tribe is a space to collectively honour our resilience, tend to our well-being, nourish our bodies and open our hearts
Bringing together our usual collaboration of drums, percussion, dance and song, we'll continue to bring the balm of community to these strange days through a creative exploration of intelligent rhythmic traditions from west Africa. These traditions know how to re-connect us to our vitality and our joy as a potent route to profound well-being as we come together as tribe.
This course is for those who already have some drum/rhythm/dance experience or are willing to jump in, so we can drop deeper and lift up a good vibrant energy.
At the same time, we really encourage everyone to go at their own pace and listen to their bodies so nothing is pushed, and we can all find our natural rhythm.
