The Welcome Sanctuary Service, an inclusive ecumenical service for students, will occur at the Mary Harris Memorial Chapel on 20 September 2026. This event is open to everyone at no cost.
'Sanctuary' is our inclusive, ecumenical, contemplative service for students at the University of Exeter.
Inclusive means it is for everyone - we are explicitly mindful of students at all stages of faith and doubt, and aim to be an LGBTQ+ and neurodiversity-friendly community.
Ecumenical means we come from a variety of Christian traditions. Our leadership includes the Anglican and Free Church Chaplains.
Contemplative means we are a quiet, relaxed service. We sit around the Chapel altar (although if you'd prefer to sit elsewhere you're more than welcome), some of us sit on the floor or do art/craft during the service. We value prayer and gentle discussion as we journey through faith.
