NOTE: Players MUST be resident in Lochaber to take part. We WILL ask for evidence of this on the day.

About the tournament

Get ready to unleash your Hadoukens, Dragon Punches and Sonic Booms, as Highland Cinema hosts an exciting Street Fighter II Championship Tournament in partnership with Legend Arcade! Whether you spent your childhood mastering combos in the arcade or you've recently discovered one of the greatest fighting games ever made, this is your chance to test your skills against players from across Lochaber.

The tournament is open to Lochaber resident players of all experience levels. Matches will be played in a structured knockout tournament, giving every competitor the chance to battle their way towards the Grand Final. Spectators are welcome, so even if you're not competing, come along to cheer on your favourite players and enjoy the atmosphere.

Throughout the tournament, Highland Cinema Restaurant & Bar will be serving some special Street Fighter themed snacks, food and drinks, so whether you're aiming for the championship trophy or simply looking for a fun experience with fellow gaming fans, it's set to be a celebration of one of the most iconic video games ever created!

Game and hardware

Players will compete with Street Fighter II Championship Edition (1992), part of the Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection, played on an X-Box S1 with standard wired X-Box S1 controllers. Custom controllers are not allowed. Games will be played on TVs within Screen 1 to minimise controller lag, with output mirrored to the big screen for spectators.

Standard Tournament Rules

Unless otherwise stated, Highland Cinema's Street Fighter II Championship Tournament follows standard Fighting Game Community (FGC) tournament etiquette and procedures. Tournament organisers' decisions are final. Players are expected to display good sportsmanship and be ready to play when called. Any abusive behaviour, deliberate delays, or attempts to gain an unfair advantage may result in disqualification. Further event-specific rules, including match format and scheduling, will be published before the tournament.
