About This Event

The Collective Intelligences Artistic Research Weekend will take place at The Cube on the University of Galway campus on 13 November 2026. This workshop will focus on creative approaches to collective intelligence for a sustainable future, and attendance is free.

This workshop weekend will explore creative approaches and practices of collective intelligence for a more sustainable future.

The United Nations has been looking at a diverse range of practices under the label of collective intelligence in order to speed the pace of progress toward the Sustainable Development Goals. According to researchers working with Nesta and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Accelerator Labs, “at its simplest, collective intelligence can be understood as the enhanced capacity that is created when people work together, often with the help of technology, to mobilize a wider range of information, ideas and insights.”

What if together we can bring in under-explored practices and approaches to create new concepts and forms of the collective intelligence we need in these times of accelerating climate crises, data centers, and AI?

What can embodied, sensory, spatial, relational, and felt intelligences help us see when it comes to connections between human, nature, artificial and more-than-human intelligence?

Leading from a place of care and value for other beings, human and non-human, participants will have a chance to share their own practices and learn from others as we explore creative and critical ways of relating, connecting, and coexisting.

This will be a space of exchanging knowledge, collective sharing, agency, and creation to explore how culture can drive climate and social transformation (with free nibbles, coffee, and tea provided)
