The Courage to Be Neutral | Beyond the War Machine
A grassroots gathering on Irish neutrality, the Triple Lock and the Military-Industrial Complex
Join us for an evening of discussion, debate and live music exploring the future of Irish neutrality and Ireland's role in an increasingly militarised world.
Bringing together four prominent voices in the movement for peace and Irish neutrality, this expert panel will feature:
Senator Tom Clonan – Independent Senator and peace and neutrality activist.
Senator Alice-Mary Higgins – Senator, founder of the Irish Neutrality League and peace and neutrality activist.
Sara O'Rourke – Convenor of the Irish Neutrality League and peace and neutrality activist.
Michelle Ní Chléirigh – Founder of Tonn na Clé and peace and neutrality activist.
Together, the speakers will explore the significance of Ireland's Triple Lock, the growing pressures to reshape Irish foreign and defence policy, and the influence of the Military-Industrial Complex. The discussion will examine what neutrality means in practice, why it matters, and the importance of ensuring that decisions about Ireland's international commitments remain in the hands of the Irish people.
Featuring live music from Áine Tyrrell, the evening will bring together activists, speakers and members of the wider community for an opportunity to connect, exchange ideas and consider how we can defend and strengthen Ireland's tradition of peace and neutrality.
The Courage to Be Neutral is more than a discussion : it is an invitation to take part in a wider grassroots conversation about Ireland's future.
