About This Event

Three crime authors will join chair Daniel Sellers to discuss the influence of Agatha Christie at Mitchell Library on 31 October 2026. The panel event costs £3, and copies of the authors' books will be available to buy.

Agatha Christie, the ‘Queen of Crime’, is the bestselling novelist of all time. Her work spans decades, having published over 70 novels, short stories and plays that are still in print and being performed to this day. In our panel event, three crime authors will discuss the influence of Agatha Christie on the world of crime writing and her enduring appeal. Daniel Sellers will chair a conversation with F.L. Everett, Inga Vesper and Michael Wood in the launch week of our exhibition, Agatha Christie: A World of Mystery at the Mitchell Library. Copies of the authors’ books will be available to buy, in partnership with Daydreams Bookshop. About the authors: Daniel Sellers (chair) is the Kindle bestselling author of the Glasgow-based Lola Harris Mysteries and the Yorkshire Killings series, set in the 1990s. He is now writing a series of thrillers, set in rural and coastal Argyll in Scotland, the first of which is The Knapdale Murders. Daniel is a huge fan of Agatha Christie. F L Everett lives in rural Scotland with her husband, three dogs and one black cat, in a very small cottage between a forest and a loch. As well as being an author of fiction and non-fiction, including her cozy mystery series Edie York, Flic has experience working as a journalist, broadcaster, agony aunt, vintage shop owner and as a tarot reader. Flic’s favourite things are reading, animals, very hot baths, cooking and buying clothes that are hopelessly unsuitable for her life. She also has a never-ending appetite for rummaging in charity shops. Recent titles include Death on Holly Island and Murder at Mistletoe Manor (Century). Inga Vesper is a journalist and author. She moved to the UK from Germany to work as a carer, before the urge to write and explore brought her to journalism. As a reporter, she covered the coroner's court and was able to observe how family, neighbours and police react to a suspicious death. She is the author of two historic crime novels, The Long, Long Afternoon and This Wild, Wild Country, and is currently working on a series of thrillers set in modern-day Glasgow. Michael Wood is a CWA shortlisted author of more than twenty crime fiction novels including the bestselling DCI Matilda Darke series, the Dr Olivia Winter psychological thriller series, and several standalone novels. Born and raised in Sheffield, Michael now lives in Newcastle where he writes full time.
