Any Young Mechanic are a five-piece indie and art-folk band from Adelaide. Formed after meeting at the Elder Conservatorium, the musicians established themselves within the Australian indie scene by reinterpreting folk traditions through a contemporary, cinematic lens. Blending rich acoustic arrangements, storytelling lyrics, and lo-fi production, their dynamic sound draws comparisons to artists like Big Thief and Wilco. Following international festival appearances, the band released their acclaimed debut album, The Modern Shoe Is Ruining The Foot, in June 2026. Recorded live together in the studio to capture the raw feel of their live set, the record highlights their exceptional musicianship and fresh songwriting.
