About This Event

The Byres Road Book Festival will hold a session at Hillhead Library in Glasgow on 25 September 2026. Gillebrìde MacMillan will read from the Gaelic translation of Chien Pourri during this literary event. Attendees must purchase a ticket to join the programme.

The acclaimed French children’s book Chien Pourri has been translated in Gaelic by Gillebrìde MacMillan and in this session he will read from the story. Will good overcome evil – all through the eyes of the loveable Cù Giobach? Gillebride MacMillan is a highly acclaimed Gaelic writer, translator and singer. He has translated a number of books including Paddington, The Little Prince and the Captain Bobo stories. From South Uist, Gillebrìde now works at The University of Glasgow where he teaches on a range of topics including Gaelic language, literature and culture.
