Diwali is a festival best made by hand—and best shared in good company. While the small folk are happily engrossed—learning the sacred, flour-dusted art of naan-making directly from our senior chefs—they will also dive into a wonderful world of creativity and mindfulness led by Renu Bhardwaj, author of Celebrate Diwali. Under her gentle guidance, the children will craft bright, rustling garlands of paper marigolds in gold and orange to take pride of place at home, ink heartfelt celebration cards and gift tags for their dearest, and decorate diya tealight candles to bring a warm, flickering glow to the festivities. Better still, while the young ones are thus occupied, grown-ups can lean back with a House Chai in-hand, draw breath, and savour a long, undisturbed Dishoom breakfast in absolute peace. When the morning draws to a close, the children will depart watered, fed, and clutching their satchel of precious keepsakes; the adults will step away with fully nourished bellies and contented hearts; and all can venture back out into the crisp Glasgow air with their inner light kindled.
