COMAR - Scotland’s Water Futures will occur on 6 October 2026 at Strathclyde University Union in Glasgow. The gathering will explore Scotland's relationship with water, addressing challenges such as climate change and ecological pressures.
A gathering of people, ideas & practices exploring how Scotland can build a healthier, more creative and resilient relationship with water. COMAR - Scotland’s Water Futures : Where people, ideas and waters meet. Scotland is shaped by water. It flows through our landscapes, cities, communities, economies and cultures - connecting the places we live to much larger natural systems. But our relationship with water is changing. Climate change is bringing heavier rainfall, flooding and periods of water scarcity. Our rivers and catchments face increasing ecological pressures. In our towns and cities, water is often hidden, channelled and engineered away rather than understood as part of the places we inhabit. COMAR - Scotland’s Water Futures is a gathering bringing together different people, practices and perspectives to ask: What is our shared relationship with water and how do we collectively steward it for the future? Taking place in Glasgow alongside the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition, COMAR creates a space for conversation about Scotland’s relationship with water - from national systems and entire watersheds to cities, neighbourhoods and the everyday places where water meets our lives.
