We’re crocheting . . . An iris pocket bag! Filet crochet is a technique which uses stitch and space to create motifs and patterns. It can be very intricate and a little fussy, but for this make we're keeping it simple with this pretty, but not too flowery design. The pocket bag is a practical size and an extra pocket for when all you need is your phone and a purse, but if you want to use the time and pattern to crochet something bigger I'll help you get started. This crochet-along is suitable for . . . • Anyone with some basic crochet skills interested in this type of crochet Refreshing forgotten skills Crochet skills and techniques we’ll try . . . • Crocheting in joined rounds • Basic crochet stitches (US terms) • Standing stitches • Filet crochet • I-Cord What you need to bring along . . . • A 4.0mm crochet hook • Aran weight yarn (1 ball)* *I used 2 finer yarns (Sostrene Grene Wool Bamboo & 100% Cottton 8/4) plied to create an aran weight yarn and provide some subtle colour variation. The motif is lovely worked in 1 colour, but you may want to try a colour change for the flowery bit!
