Glasgow Cathedral Festival: Echoes in Stone and Brass will feature a bespoke performance for the cathedral's 10th anniversary, with tickets priced at £16 and £10.
Listen as the cathedral breathes… These ancient stones have witnessed almost nine centuries of change. Now, in a bespoke performance for the 10th anniversary of Glasgow Cathedral Festival, they find a voice of their own. Inspired by the tradition of improvised brass music performed in the vast sea caves of his native Faroe Islands, RSNO Principal Trombone Dávur Juul Magnussen reimagines this raw experience for Glasgow’s oldest building. Beginning with the rippling of the now-buried Molendinar Burn, this musical journey of the ‘Dear Green Place’ moves through the roar of the Industrial era towards the living breath of our future— as humble musical fragments gather to build an expansive soundscape. Join Magnussen, the choir of Glasgow Cathedral and brass players from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland for this immersive opening night as they transform the cathedral into a vessel sounding the history of our city. This event takes place in a promenade format, with limited seating. If you require assistance or cannot use stairs, please let us know in advance and we will ensure your access needs are supported.
