About This Event

What is the future of Glasgow? Join Commonscape Studio, Glasgow City Council & Field Operations learn from international best practice Glasgow: Our Commonscape What can Glasgow learn from the work of Field Operations, the practice most famous for the NYC High Line? Across Glasgow, significant work is already underway exploring how the city might respond to the challenges and opportunities ahead - from transport, housing, infrastructure and public space; to climate resilience, nature, communities and the River Clyde. The recent consultation around the future of the M8 Woodside Viaducts creates an important moment to think more broadly about how Glasgow’s infrastructure might evolve - and what these conversations could mean for the city as a whole. Inspired by the response to these discussions, Commonscape Studio (https://commonscape.studio/), with support from Glasgow City Council, is bringing Field Operations to Glasgow to help open up that wider future-focused conversation. Join us for this unique event at the University of Strathclyde Learning and Teaching Building on Friday 25th of September, 5.30pm - 7pm. Field Operations (https://www.fieldoperations.net/), most famous for the High Line in New York City, is an international landscape architecture and urban design practice whose work explores the transformation of infrastructure, landscapes and public spaces in cities around the world. We want to use their visit as an opportunity to bring together some of the people already working across Glasgow, share knowledge and ideas, and be inspired by what other cities, organisations and communities are doing elsewhere. Glasgow: Our Commonscape asks how the systems and spaces we share - our roads, railways, rivers, parks, streets, vacant land and civic infrastructure - might collectively contribute to a greener, healthier, better-connected and more resilient Glasgow. Tickets are free. Booking required.
