Greater Govanhill presents MUMS - A Shared Story of Motherhood, brings together work made by a community of new mums in workshops facilitated by Marie-Claire Lacey and 9 guest artists across Glasgow, alongside two new pieces by Marie-Claire, made in her role as artist in residence. The exhibition will show work by Marie-Claire alongside work made by the community of new mums in collaboration with the 9 guest artists who are: Ruby Hirsch Shirley Hottier Brittney Shaked Keng Keng Tang Martha Orbach Yasmin Al-Hadithi Oktavia Schreiner Alex Fulton Rebecca Livesey-Wright Highlights include works exploring maternal time, overwhelm, mental load, and the visceral experience of motherhood. It asks what ‘mother’ looks like and proudly shares work shaped by the stories, reflections and creative practice of a growing community of new mums and mother-artists. The exhibition is open on a Sunday, Wednesday Thursday, and Friday from 11:00 – 17:00. Saturday 11:00 – 18:00. Closed Monday & Tuesday Presented as part of Greater Govanhill’s Community Canvas space at Tramway. The project was funded by Creative Scotland and supported in partnership by Govanhill Baths, Govanhill CDT, Lauren McLaughlin of Spilt Milk, Merry-Go-Round Glasgow, Glasgow Women's Library and GMAC Film. The community engagement was supported by, and delivered as part of, Govanhill Bath’s Community Trust’s Wellbeing Programme. We would also like to thank Greater Govanhill and Glasgow Tramway for the use of the Community Canvas space.
