Cottiers are delighted to host Heidi Talbot for an afternoon show on Sunday the 6th of September with doors at 3.00pm. Described by The New York Times as possessing “a voice that’s both awestruck and tender,” Irish-born, Edinburgh-based singer Heidi Talbot has carved out an extraordinary career that bridges the worlds of folk, contemporary, and roots music. From her early days growing up in Co. Kildare to becoming a folk star in the U.S. with the Irish-American band Cherish the Ladies, Talbot’s journey has taken her to many of the world’s great stages – from the White House to the Sydney Opera House. Heidi has shared stages and studios with a remarkable array of artists, including Mark Knopfler, Graham Coxon (Blur), Eddi Reader, Jerry Douglas, King Creosote, Tim O’Brien, and Idlewild. Her discography spans nine solo records, including four albums released on Nashville’s Compass Records and several self-released projects distributed by Universal Records, among them the acclaimed Sing It For A Lifetime. Rooted in both tradition and modernity, Grace Untold talbot’s latest album unfolds with the honesty and warmth that have become Talbot’s hallmark. Collaborating once again with longtime creative partner Boo Hewerdine, she draws inspiration from early influences such as Mary Black and the heartfelt songcraft of Nanci Griffith. Heidi Talbot’s artistry has been recognised with numerous honours, including nominations for BBC Radio 2 Folk Singer of the Year, Best Traditional Song, Best Live Act (Scottish Traditional Music Awards), and Best Female Vocalist (Irish Music Awards). In 2023 she was named Composer of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards.
