An Evening of Songs & Stories inspired by Glasgow's Museums, Galleries and Archives
Across two nights, songwriter, storyteller and festival-favourite Karine Polwart explores the historic and scientific collections at Kelvingrove and Glasgow’s museums, archives and historic sites. The ancient St Mungo’s Well of Glasgow Cathedral speaks, as do the unnamed dead of the Necropolis. Stories of Irish immigration to the city meet its contemporary asylum seekers. And a handful of the most iconic exhibits at Kelvingrove and The Hunterian, from radical rocks, and Roman remains, to Sir Roger the Asian elephant, are conjured in song in one of Glasgow’s most beloved historic spaces.
Karine Polwart’s Curiosity Cabinet is a unique curation of Karine’s songs, old and new, as well as traditional ballads and classic covers, all with a Glasgow twist.
Featuring Dave Milligan on piano and guests.
