Built around the remarkable whistle and pipe playing of Ali Levack, the trio create a distinctive “neo-trad” sound that combines traditional melodies with modern influences, driving rhythms and inventive arrangements. Audiences can expect a performance packed with energy and musicianship, where soaring tunes and intricate interplay sit alongside powerful grooves and atmospheric moments. Together, Ali Levack, Ewan Baird and Pablo Lafuente push the boundaries of traditional music while remaining deeply connected to its roots, creating a sound that feels both fresh and unmistakably grounded in the folk traditions of Scotland and Ireland. Balancing technical brilliance with infectious stage presence, Project Smok have earned a reputation as one of the most exciting acts in contemporary trad. For anyone seeking bold new directions in folk music, this Celtic Connections performance promises an invigorating and uplifting winter festival experience.
