Attendees will have the chance to meet over 20 retailers at Scotland’s leading retail and leisure destination, including Boots, Oliver Bonas and Footasylum. With a range of part-time and full-time positions, permanent roles and seasonal Christmas contracts on offer, there are opportunities at a variety of levels, from store assistants through to management positions. Many roles offer flexible hours, ideal for students, parents and those looking to return to work. Silverburn's Job Fair welcomed more than 1,000 people last year. One of those success stories is Claire Carlin, 21, who secured a full-time position at Boux Avenue after attending the Job Fair last year. Claire said: “I used to work in hospitality, but I thought retail would be a good move for me. I had been a Christmas temp with Boux Avenue, and that’s what inspired me to go along to the Job Fair and see whether there were any permanent roles. Luckily, about a month after the Job Fair, I had landed a full-time role. I’ve been in the job for 10 months and I love it. “I would tell anyone going to the Job Fair to come with an open mind, be positive, and talk to everyone, even places you might think you would not want to work in because when you meet the people who work there and hear what the job is like you might change your mind.” When Amber McManus, 18, came to the Job Fair she was looking for a role that she could balance alongside her college studies, and secured a part-time role at jewellery brand Moriconi Italy. Amber said: “The most important part of going to the Job Fair is making sure you are confident in yourself and have fun. It is a great opportunity to meet new people and chat to lots of different retailers. Talking to customers in the store has really helped me develop my confidence when talking to clients at college as well.” Diarmuid Donohoe, General Manager of Silverburn, said: “Silverburn is one of Scotland's largest retail and leisure employers, and our annual Job Fair gives attendees the chance to meet recruiters from a selection of our globally recognised brands across fashion, beauty, and hospitality, and get first-hand insight into what a career in retail involves and the opportunities that can come from it in the long-term. “Scotland has incredible talent and the event provides fantastic opportunities for people looking to start a career in retail or hospitality, whether it is a first job, a position to fit around studies, or a role for someone looking to change career path.”
