About this Event
Get active and enjoy walking by exploring our local Waterways on this free 2.5 hour guided walk. We will start and finish at the carpark located by Purton Upper Swing Bridge
On this 5 mile circular route we will explore the final stretch of the Gloucester and Sharpness canal from Purton to the docks at Sharpness. This walk also includes an opportunity to investigate the Purton Hulks (a number of ships deliberately abandoned on the banks of the river to provide additional support to the bank). We will return from Sharpness over the fields to Brookend and back to Purton. This includes a slight incline giving wonderful views across the river.
The route follows recognised footpaths with uneven surfaces and stiles in some sections.
It’s an opportunity to meet people so come along on your own or bring a friend or family and stay for a tea or coffee afterwards if you can.
We welcome well behaved dogs on a lead. Please wear comfortable shoes, with weather appropriate clothing and bring a bottle of water. Please let us know if you have any requirements or concerns.
