The Level 2 Enhanced Domestic Abuse Training will bring awareness of abuse, trauma, and risk to enhance confidence in responding and supporting victims across all contexts on 30 September 2026 at Newent Road, Highnam, Gloucester in Gloucester.

PLEASE ENSURE YOU HAVE ATTENDED 'LEVEL 1: BASIC DOMESTIC ABUSE AWARENESS TRAINING' BEFORE REGISTERING FOR LEVEL 2.

Event Description

This training session provides frontline staff with an enhanced awareness of domestic abuse, its risks, and the professional response required.

The training takes a deeper look at different types of abuse, the cycle of abuse, and the impact on victims, including children and families. It also explores intersectionality, trauma, complex needs, and mental health, giving professionals the tools to respond with confidence and in a trauma-informed way.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this session, participants will:

Recognise different types of domestic abuse with a deeper focus than the basic training.

Understand the cycle of abuse and how it impacts victims.

Gain knowledge of relevant legislation and offences, including the Domestic Abuse Act 2021.

Understand how domestic abuse affects victims across all protected characteristic groups, including younger and older victims.

Explore the family context, including risks and impacts on children.

Gain a basic understanding of perpetrator behaviour (noting a separate module is available).

Recognise the role of complex needs and how to respond to victims with multiple needs.

Understand the impact of trauma on victim responses and how to apply trauma-informed practice.

Explore the impact of domestic abuse on mental health and the associated risks, including suicide.

Know local referral pathways and their professional role in identifying and responding to domestic abuse.
