Martial arts in medieval armour, with weapons, but it's far more than just a sport. This is a community.

Join us for an introduction to Buhurt, also known as Armoured Martial Arts, where historical combat meets modern athleticism and teamwork.

What to Expect

This session is designed as a beginner-friendly introduction to the sport of Buhurt. You will be guided through the core fundamentals, including:

Striking and grappling

Duelling

Group fights

Controlled sparring using soft kit (padded armour and padded weapons for safety)

The morning will begin with 1v1 sword and shield duelling, focusing on basic technique, movement, and control. As confidence builds, this will progress into light sparring.

We will then transition into group combat, starting with essential safety briefings and instruction on grappling, striking, and takedowns. You will finish the session by taking part in several group fights, giving you a true taste of the sport.

No prior experience is required.

Meet the Team

We are Armoured Combat Gloucester, a UK-based armoured combat team located in Gloucester.

Our members come from a wide range of backgrounds, including rugby players, Warhammer enthusiasts, gamers, and everything in between, united by a shared passion for this unique and challenging sport.

Whether you are an experienced athlete or completely new to combat sports, there is a place for you in our team.

What You’ll Need

Please bring the following:

Groin guard (required)

Comfortable sports clothing

A long-sleeved rash guard or shirt is required

Clean sports shoes (required for use on mats)

Water and light snacks

All specialist equipment will be provided.

What Happens Afterwards

After completing this session, you are welcome to attend any of our regular training sessions:

Thursdays – Soft Kit Training: 7:00pm – 9:00pm

Sundays – Steel Training: 10am-2pm
