Lady Sings the Blues is a recent collaboration between Zara Mason (vocals), Alan Sears (guitar) and Howard Hope (harmonica, guitars and mandolin). They play acoustic blues from the 1920s through to the 1950s using period recordings as the basis of their arrangements. Alan and Howard met through the Hersham Live Music Club, where they soon realised how closely aligned their musical tastes and instrumental abilities were. Zara Mason is a trained singer who has performed professionally in several genres. She is also a kingpin of the Hersham club. Alan and Howard were thrilled when she agreed to sing some 'old-time' blues with them. Alan's library of period blues music provides a repertoire of lesser-known songs sung by some of the legendary women blues singers of the past. Zara's powerful voice echoes that period sound perfectly.
Whether you're a long-time blues enthusiast or simply looking to enjoy an inspiring lunchtime performance, this recital promises an engaging and memorable musical experience. We hope to see you!
