Paediatric First Aid Accredited Course

Duration: Full day course - 9.30am arrival for 10.00 start.

What You Will Learn

By the end of this Emergency Paediatric First Aid course, you will be able to:

Understand the responsibilities and role of a paediatric first aider in a childcare environment.

Conduct a primary assessment and manage an emergency situation involving a child or infant.

Perform resuscitation (CPR) on children and infants.

Provide treatment for an unresponsive but breathing casualty (recovery position).

Respond to allergic reactions, including anaphylaxis.

Recognise and manage choking in children and babies.

Provide first aid for asthma and diabetic emergencies.

Recognise and respond to seizures and febrile convulsions.

Control external bleeding and manage wounds.

Provide appropriate care for burns and scalds.

Respond to injuries caused by foreign objects (e.g. swallowed or inserted).

Recognise and respond to head injuries in children.

Communicate effectively with children and provide reassurance during a first aid incident.

Understand how and when to escalate incidents and contact emergency services.

Certification

Successful candidates will receive an accredited & nationally recognised qualification in Emergency Paediatric First Aid, confirming their competence to deliver first aid in early years settings. The certification is valid for 3 years.
