About This Event

The People’s Emergency Briefing will take place at St Mark's Church in Harrogate on 21 October 2026. The screening will address the topics of climate and nature and their implications for daily life across the UK. Admission to this film event is free.

What’s happening with climate and nature, and what does it mean for everyday life in the UK?

The People’s Emergency Briefing is an eye-opening 50-minute film bringing together nine leading UK scientists and experts to explain what’s happening to our climate and natural world — and what it means for everyday life.

From the sweaty heatwaves we’ve been experiencing to dried-up gardens, parched fields and farmers already having to dip into winter feed, the impacts are unfolding around us. The film explores what these changes mean for our access to food and water, health and wellbeing, finances and economic security.

The film is based on the National Emergency Briefing in Westminster, featured by ITV, Channel 4 and The Times, and is presented in a Gogglebox-style format. Hear from ordinary people as they react to the film — while sitting on a sofa with Chris Packham!

You'll also hear from well-known figures including Deborah Meaden and Jennifer Saunders, alongside experts and scientists from across the UK.

After the screening, we’ll bring the conversation closer to home, with an open discussion about what it all means for our community.

Share your reactions to the film, ask questions and tell us what you think should happen next.

Come along, bring a friend, neighbour or family member, and join us for an evening of insight, conversation and ideas.

Refreshments will be available.

Free entry, but it really helps us to know how many people are coming, so please book in advance.

Donations welcome.

Please note: The film has a 12A BBFC certificate, with a recommended minimum viewing age of 16, based on advice from the Climate Psychology Alliance.
