Tom – Sax Kjell – Trumpet Chris – Keyboard Graham – Drums Andy – Double Bass Marmalade Jazz quintet Marmalade play lesser-known Jazz and Latin tunes with relaxed craft and exuberance! Tom Saxophonist Thomas Branson is a passionate young music graduate, with a first class honours degree in Jazz Performance from the University of Chichester. Playing the instrument for over 14 years, styles range from classical and contemporary music to jazz and free improvisational music. Thomas regularly gigs throughout Brighton, across the country as well as abroad. Highlights include the Big Bands Brighton Jazz Mafia and Lewes Big Band, the travelling LDN2BTN, funk rock band Beatroot, free jazz band Hill Collective and more. “ Graham Drummer Graham Allen gained priceless playing experience in the 1980’s with the Jonathan Lewis Quartet gigging in Welsh Jazz Clubs and Festivals. During this period he played alongside the likes of Thad Kelly and Howard Britz ( Bass) and pianists Jonathan Gee, Brian Waite and Dick Roberts. He is currently gigging with the Sussex Jazz Orchestra, Umfulu Trio ( Andrew Castle and Bill Keller ) , The Jazz Mothers led by Dave Morgan , The Repercussions and is on the drum rota and a volunteer at Brighton Jazz Coop where he is helping organise 40th Year celebrations in 2026. Chris Chris Barnes has played piano, keyboards, drums and percussion for 45 years on and off with various professional acts playing a wide range of material including a writing and MD role with the original Jazz Funk act B-Hut in the 1990s / 2000s. Highlights include work with Clifford Jarvis (RIP), A Man Called Adam, Tony Remy, Nick Cohen, Damon Brown, John K Miles, Ed Jones, Rachael Calladine, Christian Brewer (RIP), Gerry Underwood (RIP), Eddie Parker, Karl Van Den Bossche, Iain Hornall (ELO), Lucky Ranku, Ményatsô Mathôlê, The D-Influence Crew, Acid Jazz Records, Warner Chappell Music. Kjell Trumpet player Kjell Berglund has been on the jazz scene in Sussex,London and his native Sweden since the late 1980s. He has played with different groups including people like Mark Edwards, Terry Seabrook, Jim Watson, Simon Thorpe, Pete Burden, Mike Williams, Julian Nicholas, Ron Parry and Spike Wells. Andy Bassist Andy Slack has played electric bass in various bands since the 80s. Since 2010 he has been playing both electric and double bass, and has gigged in and around Brighton, and at Summer festivals in the Uk. Previous Brighton Bands include Quizas, a swing/latin band, The Mucky Ducklings, a funk soul outfit. Current bands include Jazz Tribe, The Jazz Hippies, Samadhana, and Marmalade
