Draw and paint modern interpretations of Minotaur, Medusa, and a selection of hybrid creatures.

Masks, Myths, Minotaur!

Relaxed, inclusive, and untutored figure drawing session with costumes and masks!

This series is for artists who are looking for interesting references to draw from life, and will feature masks and costumes inspired by mythological and folkloric figures from around the world, including The Minotaur, Medusa, and the Mermaid. I have been inspired by revisionist folklore of artists like Wangechi Mutu as well as Zakia Sewell’s My Albion series.

Especially great for people who attend life drawing classes and are looking for a change.

There will be a group exhibition at the end of this series, where students are welcome to submit their works.

I am hoping to cultivate a local community of artists who are open to making works together and collaborating on future exhibitions and events. Please forward to artists or folklore enthusiasts who might be interested in this. All are welcome!

Basic drawing materials, including easels will be provided, but you are encouraged to bring your own materials to customise these sessions to suit your drawing style.

About the Artist

I am a local artist with an extensive history of teaching and hosting art events. I am setting up these classes so that I could bring the my interest in myths and folklore to life!

I have been inspired by contemporary folklore movements which try to revision and refashion myths and creatures, and I hope this event resonates with artists like myself who want references from life for interesting drawings.

While the drawing sessions are untutored, I am happy to offer advice and suggestions if requested.

Link to my instagram to stay in touch or if you have any questions. I will post previews of the costumes before sessions:
