This Level 3 safeguarding course is a mandatory program for Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) and Named Professionals. It provides the advanced knowledge and leadership skills required to take responsibility for safeguarding within your organisation.
The course is delivered by the Early Years Improvement Team in conjunction with the Herefordshire Safeguarding Partnership, ensuring national legislation is placed into local context and aligned with EYFS statutory requirements. This is an accredited course, that ensure you are meeting your statutory duties in relation to the safeguarding and welfare requirements of the EYFS.
EYFS Focus:
This training is tailored for those working in early years settings. It includes EYFS-specific scenarios, practical examples, and clear links to the Early Years Foundation Stage statutory framework, helping you understand how safeguarding responsibilities integrate with early years practice.

Prerequisites:
You should already have:
• A basic understanding of child safeguarding
• Knowledge of the legislative framework
• Awareness of types and indicators of abuse and neglect
• Experience responding to safeguarding concerns
If you do not have this knowledge, please complete the Working Together to Safeguard Children – Level 2 course first, alternatively in exceptional circumstances we may admit people onto the course who are able to demonstrate sufficient safeguarding understanding. Please get in touch.

Learning Aims
By the end of this course, you will:
✔ Understand multi-agency safeguarding children procedures in Herefordshire.
✔ Work effectively with partners to safeguard and promote the well-being of children and young people
✔ Apply learning from case reviews
✔ Place national legislation into local context
✔ Understand your leadership role in safeguarding and how to support colleagues
The course also includes a refresher on types and signs of child abuse and relevant legislation.
The program meets the requirements set out in Annex C of the EYFS.
There will be a Gap Task
