We will be working at Gomm's Wood. We will meet on site at 10am and finish at approximately 3.30pm. We will meet on Herbert Road Service Road, by the 5 bar vehicle gate next to Ash Hill Primary School. Free parking is available on Herbert Road. The nearest postcode is: HP13 7HW. The Task:

Today we will be clearing overgrown scrub and brambles. Many people ask us why we are doing this as a scrub-bash can often look destructive.

It is an essential conservation task, giving the chalk grassland much needed breathing space so wildflowers can grow providing a welcoming habitat to different species.

Timings (please note these timings are approximate):

10.00: Arrival for safety briefing, please don't be late!

11.30: Tea & coffee break

13.00: Lunch time, please bring your own

15.00: Work finishes, time to go home!

What to Bring:

Please bring your gloves (we will have spares) and dress for the weather and the task.

Long trousers are advisable as there may be ticks and thorny vegetation. We also recommend wearing steel toe capped or sturdy boots rather than trainers.

Wear layers that you can remove if you get hot whilst working. Bring a waterproof as most of our sites have no shelter from the rain. If it's sunny you may need a hat and suncream.

Please bring a plenty of fluids and a packed lunch. We will bring a tea kit and biscuits.

Please note:

Biscuits are served at all Chiltern Rangers sessions. Please advise if you have an allergy.

Sometimes there is a need for us to use power tools that can be noisy.
