Alicja Mrozowska and Paul Miller

'are you playing out is an ongoing collaboration between artists Alicja Mrozowska and Paul Miller. We make experimental work combining painting, photography, light, sound, projection, sculpture and live performance.

Our work often starts with analogue processes such as painting, photography and field recordings, which we then bring together with digital technology to create immersive installations and audiovisual performances. We are interested in how different mediums can interact and change the way people experience a place.

Over the last three years we have developed the collaboration through a series of commissioned projects, including 'Entwined' for Lightwaves Festival (2024), 'Wave' for Put Big Light On Festival (2025), and we are currently creating a large-scale outdoor installation 'Common Ground' for Light Night Leeds and RHS Glow (2026). These projects incorporate site-specific audio and visual content, interactive elements and encourage local community involvement.'
