About This Event

Mirfield Show 2026 is a local festival taking place on 23 August 2026 from 09:00 at Mirfield Showground in Huddersfield. Entry ranges from free to £8.50 and includes activities, food, and entertainment.

Medieval Mirfield is coming. BMX stunts, Princess Merida, donkey rides, live music. Kids get in FREE. Sunday 23 Aug. Advance from £7.50.

This year, we're going medieval.

Mirfield Show is back on Sunday 23rd August, and the theme for 2026 is Medieval Mirfield. The showground transforms into a vibrant celebration of old-world fun, with plenty of the family favourites you'll already know alongside some brilliant new additions for this year.

Gates open at 9am. There's entertainment right across the site until 4.30pm. Over 10,000 people come every year, it's run entirely by volunteers, and we've been doing it for over 80 years. Advance tickets are £7.50 online (small booking fee applies) or £12 at the gate on the day. Children under 16 get in FREE when accompanied by an adult.

The Main Ring

The show kicks off with our compere Karen Clegg welcoming everyone in, a few words from the Mayor of Mirfield Sean Guy, and the official show opening by Peter Doubell. After that, the main ring is non-stop.

The headline act this year is the BMX Stunt Show. High-flying, adrenaline-fuelled, and brilliant for all ages. There are two performances, at 12.15pm and 3.45pm, and it really is as good as it sounds. In between, Alex Slater takes the ring as our singer and comedian at 1.30pm, the ATC Marching Band performs twice through the afternoon, Katie Philpott School of Dance performs at 2.30pm, and Suttons School of Performing Arts brings their energy to the ring at 1pm.

New for 2026 is the Hobby Horse Grand Parade at 3.15pm, with younger visitors showing off the horses they've made in the Kids Zone earlier in the day. If you haven't seen it before, make sure you're in the field for it.

The Horse and Pony Show runs from 9am and finishes at 11.30am, always a wonderful way to start the day.

Animals

Joe's Mobile Farm is back, with rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens and ducks to name a few. Walk on the Wild Side brings reptiles, invertebrates, mammals and bugs back by popular demand. Billy Soaps Gruff return with their ever-popular goat milk products. And Our Little Home Farm joins us for 2026. You can also try your hand at the ancient craft of skep making if you've ever wondered how it all works.

Kids Zone (bigger and better for 2026)

The Kids Zone has grown again this year and there's a lot going on. Go Wild Outdoors are running activities all day, including archery and axe throwing to get into the medieval spirit. Brand new for this year are donkey rides (who needs the seaside?). You can meet Princess Merida of Brave at the Meet and Greet, make a medieval hat or a hobby horse, and dress up to your heart's content. Little Lux Soft Play is back, alongside the Football Shootout and plenty more besides.

Over in the Children's Ring from 9am, it's welly wanging, traditional races and children's games. Come join in.

Grange Moor Brass Band and Music Stage

Grange Moor Brass Band play three sets in the Band Tent at 11am, 12.30pm and 2pm. The Music Stage opens at 10am with live acts running through the afternoon. Full line up on the website and our social channels soon.

The Craft Marquee

The Made in Yorkshire craft marquee is bigger than ever for 2026. Natasha Jackson Ceramics and Mindful Maker are both back, alongside the Mirfield Makers who'll have 12 stalls showcasing the talents of our local artists and craftspeople. Treat yourself.

Around the Field

Pinxton Puppets, two stiltwalkers, Brian's Balloons, a classic threshing machine, and a real fire engine the kids can climb in. The Royal British Legion, RAFA, the Countryside Police, Holme Valley Mountain Rescue, Calendar Man and Andy Man's Club all have a presence on the field. Shofukan are back with their martial arts display. It's worth a wander.

Competitions

The Dog Show gets going from 10am with registration from 9.30am and the Championship class from 3.30pm. The competition marquee opens early for flower, vegetable, domestic and children's exhibit entries, with judging from 9.45am and prize presentations at 2pm. Scarecrow judging is at 11am. Full competition details and entry information at mirfieldshow.com.
