Be More Tree: An Eco-Drag Workshop will run on October 3, 2026, at GROUND in Hull. This workshop with eco-drag artist Glamanita explores the relationship between humanity and trees over a full day. Admission is free.
A full-day workshop with eco-drag artist Glamanita, exploring what happens when we stop looking at trees, and actually become them...
Be More Tree is an immersive full-day eco-drag workshop at Ground Gallery, exploring the rich meeting point of movement, mythology, ecology and creative transformation. Through storytelling, embodied practice, playful performance and collaborative making, you'll create your own tree-inspired drag persona and discover what wisdom the forest might have to share.
Led by eco-drag artist Glamanita (aka. Hannah Whitlow, they/them) we'll journey through mythic stories, guided movement and creative exercises, before bringing your found tree character to life through costume, facepaint and materials.
The day culminates in a joyful drag reveal, where each participant introduces their tree to the group, followed by a collective sharing and a chance to weave together our new mythologies.
Please note that this is a responsive workshop. The structure may shift slightly on the day to follow the needs and energy of the group while keeping the overall journey and themes intact.
Bring:
A packed lunch and snacks (there are limited places to purchase food near the venue)
A notebook to write and draw ideas in
Any make-up you may wish to bring for your own use
No previous experience of drag or performance is needed - just curiosity, a willingness to play, and clothes you can move comfortably in.
Suitable for ages 18+. If you book on and then find you are no longer able to make it, please cancel your ticket on Eventbrite so we can release the ticket to someone else. Thank you.
This activity has been commissioned by Hull and East Riding Friends of the Earth as part of Tree Stories, a creative community nature project funded by the National Lottery Communities Fund.
