About This Event

The Latino Film Festival will screen the 1966 Cuban feature film Death of a Bureaucrat at Hull Artist Research Initiative (HARI) in Hull on 26 September 2026. The event is a film screening. Tickets cost £6.13.

The Latino Film Festival presents this 1966 Cuban feature film in UNTHINKABLE's Sofa Cinema.

When a worker dies and is buried with his labor card as a badge of honor, his widow is told she needs that card to claim the benefits she is entitled to, unfolding into a tragically funny series of events as the family of the dead man tries to recover the precious card from his grave.

This classic 1966 comedy by director Tomas Gutierrez pokes fun at the Communist bureaucracy and red tape of post revolution Cuba and how it affects the lives of the common people who have to waste time and overcome hurdles just to get on with their ordinary lives.
