Hot Gospel – Biography

Founded in 2004 by acclaimed choir director and vocalist Helen Garnett, Hot Gospel is one of the North of England's most exciting contemporary gospel choirs, bringing together outstanding vocalists, infectious energy and a passion for music that inspires, uplifts and connects people from every background.

Based across East Yorkshire and North Lincolnshire, Hot Gospel has built a reputation for delivering unforgettable live performances that blend contemporary gospel, soul, pop and inspirational music with exceptional vocal arrangements and a powerful live band. Whether performing in churches, concert halls, festivals or community events, the choir creates an atmosphere that is both emotionally moving and joyfully infectious.

Under the direction of Helen Garnett—a professional vocalist with over 35 years' experience and recognised from appearances on Britain's Got Talent and BBC All Together Now—Hot Gospel has performed alongside celebrated artists including Heather Small, Peter Andre and Paul Carrack. The choir has also achieved national recognition as finalists in the BBC Songs of Praise Gospel Choir of the Year competition, cementing their reputation as one of the UK's leading community gospel ensembles.

Following an exciting relaunch, Hot Gospel now operates as a dynamic project choir, bringing together passionate singers from the hugely successful All For One Choir network to perform ambitious, high-quality productions accompanied by the outstanding Hot Gospel Collective Band under the musical direction of Antoine Robinson. Every performance celebrates the joy, hope and unity that gospel music brings while welcoming audiences of all faiths—and none—to share in the experience.

More than simply a choir, Hot Gospel believes in the transformative power of singing.
