Join the Yorkshire Wildlife Trust team for a bug-tastic hunt and help us create a new bug hotel at the Spurn Discovery Centre!

Join us on an exploration looking for some of Spurn NNR's smallest creatures. Using specialist bug-safe capturing equipment our team will help you search under rocks, bushes and in grasses.

After seeing what we can find around the Spurn Discovery Centre grounds you can help us restore our big bug hotel! We will do some stacking, arranging, painting and more to make it fit for a fantastic array of minibeasts!

This sessions is best suited for children aged 7 to 11.

All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times during the session.

For health and safety we have a limited number of tickets available (including adult and child spaces) so booking is essential.

Minimum age to participate is 7 and the maximum is 14.

Embrace your wild side - what to expect:

Our bug hunts take place in areas of uneven ground and will involve moving rocks, twigs and/or grasses.

What to bring/wear

This event takes place outside so brace yourself for the Yorkshire weather! We'd recommend sturdy and waterproof footwear or wellies, and lots of layers! If it's a hot day, remember a hat and suncream! We suggest wearing long trousers that can be tucked into socks.

Gloves will be provided for the bug house building.

Toilets and catering

There are toilets (including an accessible toilet) and a café at the Spurn Discovery Centre, serving both hot and cold food.

Joining us on the day

Our events meet at Spurn Discovery Centre, where there is a café and toilets. Please arrive with plenty of time before your event as it will begin promptly at 11:00 and finish at 13:00.

Parking

There is a £5 parking charge, which helps us to maintain the centre and look after the reserve. There is free parking for Wildlife Trust members who display their up-to-date membership card on their car dashboard.
