Join us for a 60-minute immersive sound bath in the unique setting of Humber Street Gallery with sound bath facilitator, Matt Walton.
If you find traditional meditation challenging or you’re looking for an opportunity to slow the pace and press pause, consider surrendering to the harmonious embrace of a Sound Bath—a deeply immersive, full-body listening experience that uses sound to soothe your mind and body.
The session begins with each participant lying down or seated in a comfortable position, often with a blanket and an eye mask to enhance relaxation. After a few moments of guided focus on the breath, you’ll be immersed in a meditative soundscape where a variety of sounds and frequencies are introduced in succession. These are created by overtone-emitting instruments such as a Remo drum, Himalayan and crystal singing bowls, and Koshi chimes.
Set within the tranquil surroundings of Humber Street Gallery’s latest exhibition, participants are enveloped by resonant sounds that influence brain wave activity, calm the nervous system, and guide you into a state of deep relaxation. This immersive experience provides a rare opportunity to press pause on the demands of daily life, giving you space to let go of distractions and reconnect with yourself.
The sounds introduced during a Sound Bath are an invitation into a deeper state of consciousness, offering an opportunity to unplug from external stimuli and gain perspective on what’s going on within you. The goal of the experience is to encourage self-inquiry and discovery while inviting deep rest and relaxation—a chance to simply pause and be.
Each person’s experience is unique. Some find the sounds help release physical or mental tension, leaving them feeling refreshed and recharged. Others notice certain sounds resonate with specific areas of their body, bringing a sense of focus or balance. While some participants may drift into a peaceful sleep, others stay fully present, simply enjoying the progression of sounds and the opportunity to relax without distraction.
To fully enjoy this experience, please bring a yoga mat and dress in warm, comfortable clothing. It’s also recommended to bring a bottle of water as it is common to feel dehydrated after a sound bath. You might also choose to bring a small cushion, blanket and eye mask. For those unable to lie on the floor, chairs will be provided.
Step into this restorative sound journey, press pause, and let the soothing vibrations guide you to a place of calm, clarity, and connection.
