The Active Economy takes place on 20 August 2026 at Court De Padel Hull. This business event focuses on the intersection of health, physical activity, and productivity within the Humber region. Attendance is free of charge.
Where business, health and physical activity come together to build a healthier, more productive Humber.
As Humber enters one of the most significant periods of economic growth in its history, creating healthier, more resilient workforces is becoming an economic opportunity as much as a health priority.
Healthy, engaged workforces are becoming a competitive advantage. As employers face increasing pressures around productivity, recruitment and retention, investing in employee wellbeing is no longer just a people issue. It's a business one.
Physical inactivity costs the UK economy an estimated £6.6 billion every year, while inactive employees can cost businesses around £1,400 per employee annually through sickness absence, reduced activity and poorer wellbeing.
The afternoon will feature a panel discussion, moderated by David Gent, CEO of Active Humber, bringing together voices from business, health and regional leadership to explore the role employers can play in creating healthier workplaces and stronger communities. Further details will be shared closer to the event.
Following the discussion, attendees will have the opportunity to step onto the courts and experience one of the UK's fastest growing sports.
Opened in June 2026, Court De Padel is Hull's first premium indoor padel venue, offering 8 indoor padel courts, 2 pickleball courts, table tennis facilities, a cafe and bar, pro shop and modern social spaces.
Whether you've never picked up a racket or you're already a regular player, this event is designed to spark new conversations, new connections and new ideas.
