The Brilliant Birds of North Cave event will take place on 9 October 2026 at Dryham Lane in Hull. Participants can join bird expert Tony Martin to learn how to identify various species that live and visit the North Cave Wetlands. This workshop is suitable for beginners new to birding and aims to introduce attendees to local avian life. The course carries a ticket price of £21.40.

Once a working gravel quarry, North Cave Wetlands is fast becoming one of Yorkshire Wildlife Trust’s most popular reserves for photography and spotting an extraordinary range of wildlife. Join East Reserves Manager Tony Martin as he take you on a guided walk around the reserve stopping at different bird hides on the way to help you spot the birds that live and visit North Cave.
Includes refreshments.
Embrace your wild side - what to expect:
A ccessibility and terrain
A circular footpath runs around the perimeter of the original section of the reserve, part of which is surfaced and accessible to wheelchair users, as are three of the four hides. All footpaths are paved however there are some stone and grass paths also present within the reserve. Please note some paths may close during bird breeding season.
Permissive footpaths. Keep to the marked paths and do not enter the deep water.
What to bring/wear
This event takes place outside so brace yourself for the Yorkshire weather! Sturdy footwear is always recommended. Please feel free to bring along a pair of binoculars, if you don't own some there will be some available to borrow on the day.
Toilets and catering
There are toilets and a cafe on this site, and a picnic area. All of which are open all day all year round.
The Little Butty Bus is open from 8am until 2:30pm Tuesday to Sundays.
