A catchment tour to see a wide range of river restoration and natural flood management techniques in the River Peffery catchment, Dingwall.

The River Peffery Catchment Project (https://www.agri-environmental.co.uk/peffery-restoration/)is a successful £1.5m catchment scale restoration project carried out between 2022 and 2026. This tour of the catchment will showcase a wide range of river restoration work that has taken place including:

large scale re-meandering

floodplain wetlands and flood storage

leaky dams

ditch re-profiling

flood storage / habitat ponds

The tour will cover practical techniques and lessons learned. It will also be a chance to hear about the economic benefits of the work and how natural flood management can provide enhanced habitats for wildlife and reduce downstream flood risk.

The tour will be led by Richard Lockett and Hannah Humphreys who delivered the restoration project. Also attending will be Dr Hamish Moir from cbec eco-engineering who provided the majority of the design input.
