About This Event

On September 5, 2026, at 12:15, visitors will have the opportunity to explore the WDC Scottish Dolphin Centre in Southend On Sea during a Doors Open Day special where they can take a guided tour of the Tugnet Icehouse, the largest such structure in the UK. This event offers insight into Spey Bay's salmon fishing heritage for free.

Step back in time and take a guided tour of the largest Icehouse in the UK - discover all about Spey Bay’s salmon fishing heritage.

Take a guided tour of the largest Icehouse in the UK and discover all about Spey Bay’s salmon fishing heritage. Hear the stories of the fishermen who worked here and see a range of the authentic tools they used. In the bones room you will find out all about the whales and dolphins that live in Scotland’s seas and how big they really are!

Tours last approximately 45 minutes and will be in groups of up to ten people.

This event is a special free tour to celebrate Doors Open Day - Scotland’s largest free annual festival that celebrates heritage and the built environment.
