The Karibu African Support Group and Suffolk New College will host a Black History Month celebration at Suffolk New College in Ipswich on 24 October 2026. The day features culture, heritage, music and dance.

Celebrate Black History Month with Karibu African Support Group & Suffolk New College – a vibrant day of culture, heritage,music and dance.

Karibu African Support Group, in collaboration with Suffolk New College, is delighted to invite you to a vibrant and inclusive celebration of Black History Month 2026.

Join us on Saturday 24 October 2026, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM, at Suffolk New College, Rope Walk, Ipswich, IP4 1LT, for an afternoon celebrating African heritage, culture, history, creativity and community.

This free community event brings together people of all backgrounds to learn, connect, celebrate and enjoy the richness of African cultures

What to Expect

Masquerade Displays – Experience colourful and meaningful traditional masquerade presentations.

Music & Dance Performances – Enjoy lively traditional African music and dance performances.

Poetry, Storytelling & Cultural Presentations – Hear stories and presentations that explore African heritage, history and traditions.

Arts & Craft Exhibition – Discover creative work celebrating African culture and artistic expression.

Artefacts Exhibition – Explore cultural artefacts and learn about their history and significance.

Traditional Presentation of Kola Nuts – Discover the cultural importance of kola nuts as a traditional symbol of hospitality, respect and community.

African Food & Cultural Stalls – Sample and discover traditional cuisines and products from different African cultures.

Community & Information Stands – Connect with local organisations, community groups and support services.

Family-Friendly Activities – Children and families can enjoy arts, crafts and interactive cultural activities.

A Celebration for Everyone
